On October 30, 2025, employees of the Department of Economic Development of the Rivne City Council conducted an educational and informational event for students of the Rivne College of Information Technology.
During the meeting, students received information about:
- the structure of the executive bodies of the Rivne City Council,
- the community’s economy, its budget, and sources of local budget formation,
- local taxes and fees, and tax culture,
- grant and investment projects.
In particular, Tanya Stepanyuk presented information on:
▫️ the structure of local taxes and fees;
▫️ actual local budget revenues for 2024–2025;
▫️ the volume of products produced by local enterprises;
▫️ implementation of energy-efficient measures and the execution of grant and investment projects.
Special attention was paid to implementing energy-efficient projects in the community, including the NetZeroCitiesproject, which involves developing a “Zero Emissions Vision for the City of Rivne,” and the CLIBUS project.
The Department coordinator, Iryna Mikhaliyk, presented the CLIBUS project and explained the political instrument being improved with business participation — the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) until 2030.
During the meeting, participants discussed the goals of improving this political instrument, challenges, and opportunities for local entrepreneurs in applying energy efficiency principles and reducing their carbon footprint.
At the end of the tour, students visited the “Support Rivne” platform — a new space for interaction between business, local authorities, and the community within the Rivne Business Co-working Space.
Oksana Popadynets presented the initiative implemented jointly with the business community, which promotes Rivne producers. The “Support Rivne” space showcases local products, amber items, and exhibits of Ukrainian embroidered books by artisan Olena Medvedeva.
Partners of the initiative include the Light Industry Association, the public union “Rivne Food Cluster”, the Ukrainian Amber Business Association, and the NGO “Center of Creativity”.
Students were also introduced to opportunities for internships in specialized units of the Department of Economic Development and potential future employment in the executive bodies of the city council.
Such events provide young people with practical understanding of the functioning of local self-government bodies and promote student involvement in community development. Participants expressed interest in continuing similar meetings that combine theory with practice.
The event was conducted within the framework of the Program for Developing Tax Culture in the Rivne Territorial Community.
We work for Victory and protect our future — an educated youth!
